The Robert Owen Window's of Learning Project began by stepping back in time. Children from all five primary schools and the two private nurseries in Lanark enjoyed an incredible visit to New Lanark World Heritage site. They visited the old tenament buildings where they learned about all the changes and improvements in lifestyle that occurred when Robert Owen became Manager. They went on the Annie Macleod experience and had lots of fun in the school, where they tried out all the games. No technology, just timeless toys made from bobbins and parts from the mill. It was the stories that the children loved most of all, especially the one about the live crocodile which Robert Owen hired from the circus so that the boys and girls could learn about wild and exotic animals. Thankfully the one in the pictures is just a model!

These photos show the children of New Lanark Primary School, visiting the original New Lanark school. Some of the children live in houses built in Robert Owen's time. What a great legacy to grow up with.
